We had really good shark action this trip, with 15-20 Whitetips and a pack of Grey Reefs swimming back and forth in the currents in the north of Komodo National Park. Using reef hooks, not much was required from us other than enjoying the show! Eventually, we had to leave them to their business, while we moved up to the more shallow parts of this seamount. Lots of things to see here as well – big Napoleons, a school of Trevallies, two Turtles and a very friendly Eagle Ray that stayed with us almost until the end of the dive.

Heading over to Rinja Island, we found the tiniest Frogfish I ever seen; less than a centimeter long. Somehow it already knew what to do in life, though – wiggle the lure at night, and eat whatever comes near. As long as it’s not bigger than yourself, that is… We also found an undescribed orange Octopus, trotting along over the sand.

Any Mantas this trip? You bet! 20 to 25 big rays gave us their whole repetoire – feeding at the surface, then beeing cleaned at the cleaning stations and finally just playing around, giving us plenty of opportunities to get close-up and personal with them.

The trip ended at Moyo Island, off Sumbawa, with relaxing and interesting diving. We found several Denise Pygmy Seahorses, an Indian Walkman, big Seasnakes and Blue Ribbon Eels, before cruising back to Bali.
