Mermaid I Liveaboard at Komodo Indonesia

Again, we were treated with great Manta action in South Komodo. For a full hour, we had 15 – 20 Mantas cruising around us at Manta Alley. Absolutely awesome! And hard to forget for the lucky ones joining this trip!

Now, we DID indeed have other things worth mentioning (and remembering…). How about six Dolphins while diving at Castle Rock? Or the symphony of colours at world famous Cannibal Rock? Four very cute pink Pygmy Seahorses together in one seafan? Or the massive shool of Humpnose Unicornfish at Crystal Rock? The list could go on and on…

At Komodo Island, the Dragons had finally finished their mating buisiness, giving us a better chance to see one. A 90 minute walk resulted in three big animals (they looked exhausted, though somewhat happy!).

Apart from the big stuff, we were also very lucky with the small critters. Cannibal Rock delivered, as usual, the whole catalogue: rare Nudibranchs, Zebra Crabs, many different Frogfish, including one juvenile painted specimen, jet black with orange spots, Commensal Shrimps, Lady Bugs and lots of colourful Sea Apples.

We also had some really good night dives: Spanish Dancers with on-board Imperial Shrimps, Crabs with Upside-down Jellyfish attached, Bent Stick Pipefish, juvenile transparent Ghost Pipefish and electric Torpedo Rays.

Another excellent trip, with pretty much everything you could hope for, from tiny Denise Pygmy Seahorses to giant Manta Rays.
