This trip was a real Dolphin treat! Apart from having these beautiful and intelligent animals around the boat every day, we were also lucky enough to see them underwater at four divesites! Favourite sighting was two Dolphins swimming down to the reeftop several times, checking what the sharks were doing there. Loads of fun!
But things didn’t stop with this: lots of sharks around Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, GPS Point and Lighthouse Reef. And we had walls of fish pretty much everywhere. Surgeonfish, Unicornfish, Jackfisk, Red Snappers, Sweetlips just to mention a few.
At the other side of the scale, we found Pygmy Seahorses on many locations. As always, a favourite amongst the photographers onboard. We found several pairs of rare Zebra Crabs hiking along on Fire Urchins, lots of Nudibranchs, including my favourite – the Bunny! (or Pacific Tecacera as it’s real name is.)
Walking with the Dragons – this is what we do every Wednesday morning on Komodo Island. Beautiful views, and four BIG Komodo Dragons this time, plus a baby up in a tree.
Another lucky morning at Manta Alley in south Komodo: 15-20 Manta Rays playing in the current just a few feet away from us! I think everybody ran out of space on their memory card on this dive…
Heading back towards Bali, we enjoyed a school of baby Grey Reef Sharks at GPS Point, and the trip ended with a rare encounter with a Blue-ringed Octopus!
A very lucky trip indeed!
