Thailand - Burma Dive Safari

Mermaid I

Frog Fish on Liveaboard diving Thailand and Burma with Mermaid Liveaboards.

Nothing like a bunch of Manta rays to cheer you up in the morning, is it? This happened to us already the first day of the trip, at Koh Bon, famous for these magnificent animals. We spotted three different ones, the biggest beeing almost five meters across. Impressive enough to spend the rest of the day here, in fact.

Equally impressive, however slightly smaller, was the beautiful pair of Harlequin shrimps we found at Richelieu Rock. Along with four Tigertail seahorses, a big school of Barracudas and rare Nudibranchs, this made for an interesting day.

The Mergui Archipelago delivered lots of Frogfish among other things. Standing out from the crowd were two gorgeous Painted specimens – a purple one at Tower Rock, and a red one at South Twin.

At Shark Cave we had a huge Nurseshark, together with Grey Reef Sharks and several Jenkin’s and Marble Rays. This divesite is also very good for macro stuff, including Seahorses, Bend Stick Pipefish and Devil Scorpionfish.

Black Rock was at its best this trip, with big Marble Rays, Grey Reef Sharks, Whitetips, massive schools of Jackfish and Batfish, all in nice blue water.

As a finale, in the last dive of this safari, we found two Painted Frogfish, a Ghost Pipefish and four Giant Spearing Mantis Shrimps.
