IT’S A ROCK’N ROLL THING!!
Liveaboard trip 3-12/12 – 09
BURMA SAFARI

Don’t worry, this is still about diving, but having three big Bow-mouthed Guitar Sharks swimming with you for 20 minutes, is as close to Rock’n Roll as it ever gets underwater. They rule!
This very much unexpected event took place in the southern parts of the Mergui Archipelago in Burma. We had decided to go for an early morning dive to see what we could find, when the trio showed up. And, as it turned out, stayed! Of all the animals in the Andaman Sea, the Bow-mouthed Guitar Shark is one of the absolute most rare. So you could imaging the excitement when the three meter long sharks moved in. ”A dive to remember” would be an understatement – there’s simply no chance anyone would forget it!
We got lucky with things at the other end of the scale as well; plenty of Seahorses, Ghost Pipefish, Frogfish and several hard-to-find Pineapplefish.
Another great find was the Bunny Ears Nudibranch. There were actually two of them together, waving their ”ears” as they crawled about.
Back to the sharks: at Three Islets we found two huge (like in HUGE!) Nursesharks resting in one of the little caves there. Yeah, that’s correct, folks – small cave, big sharks. God knows how they got in there (and how they will get OUT!).
Beeing blessed with sunny skies and calm conditions, we eventually had to start our way back to Thailand and Phuket.
