NUDIBRANCH PARADE!
Liveaboard trip 23/12-09 – 1/1-10
BURMA SAFARI
Mermaid I
This is just how things are – sometimes you get very lucky! In our case, we had a virtual parade of rare and wonderful nudibranchs throughout this trip up to the Mergui Archipelago in Burma. Two Bunny Ears nudis (or Thecaceras, as they are really called…), lots of Tambjas, Bullock’s Hypselodoris, Red-margined Glossodoris, Collingwood’s Chromodoris and Ornate Elysias, just to mention a few. Plus a whole bunch of other critters, like Ghost Pipefish, both Tigertail and Thorny Seahorses, Harlequin Shrimps and Bent Stick Pipefish. Again, just to mention some of our findings… The photographers onboard obviously went crazy, filling up their memory cards in absolutely no-time.
For the sake of Yin and Yang, we also pinned down a couple of big Nursesharks, two Eagle Rays, several Leopard Sharks, a beautiful patterned Manta Ray and a pair of rare Bowmouthed Guitarsharks. It’s all about balance!
