A Giant Frogfish is always a popular find. This particular specimen sported a solid pink colouration, almost, but not quite, matching the soft corals next to it. Beeing ambush hunters, and not moving much at all really, there was plenty of time for everybody to have a good look, and get that perfect shot.
Resting on the bottom just below, was a very cooperative Leopard Shark. It stayed with us for more than 10 minutes, before eventually taking off into the blue.
Leaving Western Rocky, we headed for some awesome macro-diving at Stewart Rock, McCarthy Rock and Ba Wei Island. Nudibranchs all over the place, different kinds of Seahorses, juvenile Catfish and Robust Ghost Pipefish. We even had a quick glimpse of an sand living Octopus, possibly a Mimic!
Shark action at Black Rock, with close encounters with the Grey Reefs we’ve been seeing there lately. Schools of Batfish, Tunas and Jackfish in the shallows, and plenty of smaller critters like Harlequin Shrimps and Nudibrancs.
Three Islets never disappoints, and this time we enjoyed huge congregations of Barracudas, big Marble Rays, several Bamboo Sharks and Tigertail Seahorses.
Eventually we had to go back to Phuket, but not before diving with the Mantas at Koh Bon!
