Wayag, Raja AmpatWe had an absolutely wonderful day up in the far north of Raja Ampat this trip! Sun was shining, water was crystal clear and we got a stunning view of the trade mark limestone islets climbing up one of them. Kayaking, snorkelling and beach combing was also on the itinerary. There couldn’t be a better place on earth for this!
Let’s not forget the diving, though – as usual on these trips we had several dives with great Manta action, most memorable probably the one at Blue Magic, with a huge, almost completely white, Manta staying with us for the entire dive!
Since most of the guests hadn’t been to Raja Ampat before, finding a Walking Shark was one of the main objectives. No problem – we got to see them during four of the nightdives, doing what they do, which is basically walking on the bottom, looking for something to eat.
The trip finished with an action-packed dive at Kri Island. Hunting Grey Reef Sharks, a pack of hundreds of big Wahoos, schools of Jackfish, Barracudas, Tunas and Batfish as well as one of the biggest congregations of Sweetlips I’ve ever seen!
