So, back in Raja Ampat after a beautiful crossing from Flores, including Alor, Gunung Api (Snake Volcano), several remote seamounts and the interesting and very picturesque Banda Islands. We saw Hammerheads, Silky Sharks, Grey Reefs, Eagle Rays and massive schools of fish. All in 40 – 60 meters visibility!
In Raja everybody enjoyed the amazing soft corals and healthy reefs. Wobbegong Sharks, Barracudas, Jackfish, Bumphead Parrotfish as well as the endemic Walking Shark and a Blue-ringed Octopus.
Needless to say, one of the highlights was the Mantas – at a cleaning station in Dampier Strait they just kept coming in. And staying, I should add. We had at least 12 of these majestic animals for the entire stretch of our dives there, leaving the photographers running out of batteries and memory cards!
