Welcome Back By Unusual Suspects

Bonto Komodo Indonesia

Our Komodo trips are always a nice contrast to what we usually get to see in Raja Ampat – in many respects. What I like the most is the diversity in dive sites: from endless hard coral reefs to current swept pinnacles covered in fish, black sandy slopes full of critters and volcanic bubbles as well as speedy channels where big fish congregate.

Hoping for another fantastic season in Komodo, a number of unusual suspects already showed up during our first trip! Seeing Dolphins underwater is a once in a lifetime experience for many divers and we can call ourselves extremely lucky to see five of them on our very first day in the National Park.20160519 Dragons South Rinca-28 - Copy

The next day again is full of surprises and action packed or should I better say “manta packed”? There must have been hundreds of Reef Mantas in the overall area since we get to see a whole dozen in only one spot at the cleaning station right in front of us whilst manta trains are passing
at our backs. The surface on the other site of Manta Alley looks like a big black carpet – our dinghy drivers almost having trouble picking up the snorkelers without bumping into those big

One thing I love most about Komodo: night dives! Swimming coral cat sharks, mating Broadclub Cuttlefish, Blue Ring Octopus hunting and Flamboyant Cuttlefish displaying mesmerising colour changes can be found amongst many other cool critters and creatures. It’s good to be back
Komodo, we have missed you!
