Most of our guests here in Raja Ampat have never seen a Wobbegong Shark before, and finding one was one of the objectives of this trip. Let’s say we kind of managed, seeing these members of the Carpet Shark family on no less than 18 dives. Honestly, the place was infested with them!
We also spent a day critter hunting up in Alyui Bay. Very sucessful one must say, with Coleman Shrimps, Zebra Crabs, Yellow & Orange Pygmy Seahorses, Whiskered Pipefish and a pletoria of Nudibranchs. The nightdive here delivered as well: Cockatoo Waspfish, Stonefish, Crocodilefish, Toadfish and my favourite, the Walking Shark. Oh, and a bunch of Wobbies…
No trip to Raja Ampat would be complete without trying out the Manta Ray cleaning stations here. With a bit of luck, you’ll see these graceful giants cueing up for a morning fix! Again, luck was on our side, and we enjoyed the show on several dives.
