Gulf of Tomini Adventures II

This week, the Mermaid II with Coral Triangle Adventures embarked on a 12 days snorkeling adventure down in the Gulf of Tomini. Our adventure began in Lembeh Strait, down to Tanjung Flesko in the Southeast coast of North Sulawesi, to Gorontalo, to the Togian islands and back to Lembeh Strait

Throughout the trip we were blessed with nice weather, calm and warm waters, excellent visibility and very gentle currents. Perfect conditions to enjoy the pristine shallow reefs!

Highlights include, an encounter with a massive pod of Melon Headed Whales once again, pristine coral gardens as far as the eye could see decorating the dramatic plateau and walls of the Atolls scattered in the vast Gulf of Tomini, the towering weird montipora coral structures in Una Una, swimming in a marine lake full of stingless jellyfish, and not to forget the surreal experience of snorkeling with four Whale Sharks, the gentle giants of the ocean!

We concluded our trip snorkeling in the legendary Lembeh Strait, where guests enjoyed muck snorkeling, looking for tiny critters among the rubbles and black volcanic sands. We were delighted to find octopus, nudibranchs, banggai cardinal fishes, mantis shrimp, pipefish and many other rare critters. Ending this superlative trip on a high note!
