Lovely Komodo

Returning to Komodo, after nearly five months on land stretching my legs, was an absolute dream. The reefs were better than I had remembered as they were brimming with life and color. Batu Bolong, one of Komodo’s most popular sites offering one of the world’s best reef dives was exceptionally beautiful this trip. The hard coral reef was it’s usual sort of beautiful with with’s it bursting colonies of citrus colored anthias who dwell within the brilliant hard coral. To add to this colorful chaos we had shoals of fusileers being chased around by giant travelly along with huge hawksbill turtles and white tip reef sharks slowly passing us by. Other stand out dives included Manta Alley with the fifteen or so mantas we found casually feeding on the surface and then the incredible muck dives who yielded a myriad of wonderful benthic critters like ornate ghost pipefish and frog fish!
