Unforgettable Komodo Trip

This week, the Mermaid II just embarked on an excellent 8 days adventure starting from Bali to Komodo and beyond. From dramatic picturesque landscapes above, to dragons, spectacular coral reefs, fish actions, rare critters a plenty, to Manta Rays and Whale Sharks. This unforgettable trip has it all!

This time, full moon currents absolutely brought life to the already beautiful coral reefs. Smaller Chromis, Damselfish and Anthias “dances” in the current above the shallow hard coral gardens, while Giant and Bluefin Trevally hunted the large school of Fusiliers not far from the reef.

Some other highlights include, a long interaction with a large and friendly Whale Shark feeding under a Bagan in Saleh Bay, lasting the whole diving and snorkeling session! It’s just never a dull moment spending time with this magnificent gentle giant of the ocean.

At Manta Alley, once again we got lucky to drift straight into a wall of Manta Rays! Some 15 Reef Mantas were all lined up in the middle of the channel, gracefully gliding in the currents while opening their mouths to feed in the nutrient rich waters of South Komodo

On one fine afternoon we took a walk around Loh Liang in the Island of Komodo to see the legendary Komodo Dragons. Didn’t take long before the nature guide pointed to a couple of Dragons around the water hole sunbathing under the hot sun while waiting to ambush an unsuspecting prey. We even managed to do a group photo with one of the Dragons!

Back in the water, critter dives were becoming favorites among our guests. As usual, our eagle eyed dive guides managed to spot a myriad of rare tiny critters to the delight of our guests. Pom-pom Crab, Bobtail Squid, Octopus, Cuttlefish, Nudibranch, Ghost Pipefishes and Frogfishes among many others.
