If you’ve heard about Komodo you probably already heard about Manta Alley. One beautiful and dramatic site in the south of the island of Komodo, an adventurous spot home of many, many impressive Reef Mantas! Even though the water temperature drops in this region the excitement of being surrounded by interactive mantas inches away from your mask will keep you warm. A large cleaning station attracts these gentle giants, the area being exposed by strong currents also brings a great amount of food turning the entire alley the perfect habitat for them.
Often we are even able to spot on the surface the feeding behaviour. One Jurassic looking landscape above the water, steep cliffs, waves crashing on rocks and eagles nesting. Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins also can be seen playing on the surface. It’s hard not to be mesmerised by the mantas behaviour, but the site also has lots more to offer like sharks, marbled rays and other large fish. The place is unreal and when condition is right to scuba it’s for sure one of the most remarkable experiences you can bring home!
