For us, Komodo has always been about the mix. From picturesque ancient landscapes above, to diverse dive sites, rare critters, beautiful coral reefs, to schooling fish actions above. Among our guests’ favourites however, are The Big Three – Whale Sharks, Mantas and Dragons!
So far, this Komodo season, we have been blessed with excellent encounters with all three of them. From long interactions with multiple Whale Sharks feeding just below the surface under the Bagans in the plankton rich waters of Saleh Bay, which often last for the whole session.
To Manta Parade in the famous Manta Alley and some other dive sites. Just last trip, our lucky guests had an amazing encounter with over a dozen of Reef Manta Rays gracefully circling above us and the cleaning station for the whole dive!
Of course a trip to Komodo would be incomplete without walking alongside the legendary prehistoric beasts, the Komodo Dragons. Despite the slim chance to see them during mating season, we have been blessed with many Dragons encounters while trekking the rugged yet picturesque landscape of the Komodo Island.
Let’s not forget about the small critters though, quietly watching the big shows above are some of the rarest and fascinating critters of all different sizes, colours and shapes! Many different species of Frogfishes, Nudibranches, Ghost Pipefishes, Seahorses, Octopus and Cuttlefish just to name a few that our eagle eyed experienced dive guides managed to spot.
